A.  Two answers are often given to this question: citrine and yellow topaz.  The topaz has been known for over 2000 years; and although it comes in a dozen colors, yellow is the most common.  The citrine, although once known as gold topaz, is not in the topaz family.  The two stones only similarity is their warm autumn glow.
